Anti-Aging Skin Care Strategies
Winter Face Care: "Sandwich Principle"
Detailed Face Care: Anti-Aging Formula and Firming Serum
Skin Care Insights
- Hydrate:
Layer moisturizer with Antiwrinkle Treatment Gel. Drink 6-8 glasses of water.
- Exfoliate:
Cleanse every day; use mask with papya and pumpkin enzymes once a week; use a scrub once a week.
- Antioxidants:
Use a variety of moisturizers layered with serums which contain multiple antioxidants (vitamin C, E, A, lycopene, A-lipoic acid, grape seed extract, green tea, coenzyme Q10). Drink green tea
- Phospholipids:
Liposomes made of phosholipids act as a carrier mechanism. Also, being very rich in essential fatty acids, they act as hydrating compounds (hygroscopic — hold water), as well as a repair complex for the epidermis. Skin becomes smoother after just a few applications.
- Nourish:
- Protect:
Use a natural sunblock with SPF 15 every day.
During the winter season many of us suffer from dry flaky skin. During these periods of time I recommend “making sandwiches” on your face at bed time. “Sandwiches” can be 2- or 3-step:
- After cleaning/toning routine, apply a small amount of Carrotseed Gel Treatment and let it get absorbed for a few minutes
- Apply your favorite moisturizer
- Apply a small amount of Vitamin C lotion on top
If this seems too complicated, skip the Carrotseed Gel step and just use a moisturizer with Vitamin C lotion on top.
Remember to use a nourishing Garden Mask at least once a week!
Upper part of our face is different from the lower part: we tend to use upper part for mimics more and with time get more wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes. Lower part of the face has a tendency to sag with age, especially around the lower jar and neck. To combat these problems I created two products: Anti-Aging Formula — which relaxes facial muscles on the forehead and around the eyes, and Firming Serum — which has a tightening effect on the skin and should be used on lower part of the face, lips and neck. Both of these products are light serum-like lotions and can be used morning and night. They are packaged into airless pumps which allows to use a minimum amount of preservative. For very dry skin, apply a rich mositurizer like Sea Kelp or Antiwrinkle on top of these products.
- Drink
8-10 glasses of high quality water a day. I mean water - not just
any drink. Avoid sweet drinks – they can do more harm than good
for your skin. Avoiding sweets and white flour goods would do
your skin a big favor: sugar and high-carb foods can do a lot
of damage to your collagen (one of the “elasticity” protein of
the skin) as it may get “cross-linked” to cause wrinkles in the
long run.
- If you wish to drink something other than water- teach yourself
to drink tea; teas rich in antioxidants are especially beneficial
for the skin and protective against premature aging. Green organic
teas, black teas (although they have less antioxidants than the
green ones) bring other benefits as they are anti-inflammatory.
Green vegetable juices are great drinks for “detox.” Try to do
all the drinking during the day - drinking at night can cause morning
puffiness. If it does, Fresh Garden potato-cucumber mask can be
used.
- Protect your skin from sunlight: it breaks down collagen and
elastin, and generates free radicals that accelerate aging. Make
sure the sunblock you are using contains UVA block (the best ones
are titanium dioxide, zinc dioxide and avobenzone).
- Try to sleep on your back – it minimizes stretching effect
of gravity on the skin.
- Applying skin care products carefully is very important for
their effectiveness:
- cleanse your face with Herbal Gentle Cleanser every night then
rinse it with luke-warm water. Do not wash your face with hot water:
hotter water enhances the skin damage by chlorine;
- apply some Herbal Toner (without an alcohol) to a cotton ball
and wipe your skin gently;
- applying cream on damp skin: lie on your back and gently massage
with circular motions with your palms for 1-2 minutes. Use Coconut
Scrub occasionally to remove dead skin (people with dry sensitive
skin should not use it more than once a week).
- Use Fresh Garden Mask every day for 10-20 min after cleansing and before applying a moisturizer. It offers natural exfoliation and nourishing
and has a wonderful effect on how your skin feels.
- Choose creams with liposomes– it is not only excellent delivery system for bioactive ingredients but phospholipids (which liposomes are made of) serve
as a great skin softener, moisturizer and healing agent.
- Take special care of the skin around your eyes: that is where
the age is seen the most. Use Fresh Garden Mask (e.g. potato-cucumber) to soften the skin; apply Herbal Eye Care Complex by gently patting your skin around the eyes (use your ring finger) from the outside towards your nose.
- People with dry skin should avoid soaps, saunas, harsh scrubbing agents and toners with alcohol. Choose products with liposomes, hyalouronic acid (e.g. Carrotseed Gel Treatment to apply under your daily night cream), rich plant oils like Evening Primrose Oil, Rosehips oil, Avocado oil) and ascorbyl palmitate (oil-soluble form of vitamin C).
- Anti-aging strategy: Choose products with anti-oxidants! Antioxidants
are not created equal: you need to make sure you provide your skin with wide variety of water and oil-soluble anti-oxidants. Example:
ascorbyl palmitate (oil-soluble form of vitamin
C) protects membranes and is more stable than water soluble form
of vitamin C. Lycopene (a fat soluble ani-oxidant)
is a best free-radical scavenger among beta-carotenes; it improves
function of cell-to-cell junctions and skin texture. Alpha-lipoic
acid (water and oil soluble) helps stabilize other anti-oxidants
and has anti-inflammatory effect. Grape seed extract
and Coenzyme Q 10 (water soluble anti-oxidants)
help to protect collagen from damaging effects of free radicals.
- People with acne–prone skin and rosacea use mild cleansers
(e.g. Herbal Gentle Cleanser) and mild creams for sensitive skin (e.g. Celandine Moisturizer).
For acne use Herbal Problem Skin Lotion twice a day. Take Flax Seed oil or Evening Primrose oils as a supplement. Make sure your
digestion is adequate by taking a high quality probiotics and
digestive enzymes. Lack of good bacteria can result in increase
of intestinal permeability and worsen inflammatory skin condition.
Avoid refined sugars. Choose skin care products with liposomes,
anti-inflammatory herbs and therapeutic quality essential oils.
